I've been watching Seinfeld for the first time over the last year and a half or so, and I just reached the end of S7 last night, which is the sudden death of Susan. It definitely surprised me, and I also didn't think it was even a little bit funny. It's fascinating that in the 90s it was acceptable to have an entire sitcom season based around a man who was "trapped" in an unwanted engagement.

Anyway, overall enjoying but this did strike me last night. #seinfeld #comedy

@amysundberg I remember watching it at the time it first aired and having a similar reaction - like “I know this is intended to be funny but it really isn’t”

@cruickshank It felt strangely like an act of desperation on the part of the writers...like they didn't know what to do with that storyline and it was the end of the season so....BAM!
