Seen on the NYC subway this morning.
@SteveBellovin When the AI takes over we’ll have to organize by exchanging messages via graffiti in places with no Internet. Extending wireless coverage to the subway is something we will come to regret.
@mattblaze @SteveBellovin could explore ribbit https://www.ribbitradio.org/ or meshtastic maybe lol

@mattblaze @SteveBellovin Blame me for NYC (Grand Central microcell circa 1990)
@SteveBellovin @mattblaze And no cameras either. Don't forget the cameras! They're in everything. (I'm holding out for a head-shaver with a camera so I can livestream the back of my head to my phone screen while I'm shaving my head without a mirror.)
@cstross @SteveBellovin @mattblaze My new hobby is counting the cameras per block here in NYC when I walk the kids to school in the a.m. (an 11-block walk each direction). It’s usually about fifteen to twenty per block on the side I’m walking. On the wealthier blocks I’ve gotten to near thirty.
@SteveBellovin
I, for one, am tired of arguing with those sons of beaches.
@SteveBellovin The duck does this mean? Nor free real estate in my mind.

@SteveBellovin

I’ve seen that. The part you can’t see says “wiches.” So really it makes perfect sense.

@kyron As a computer scientist, "sand" makes even more sense to me!
@SteveBellovin Well, it isn't a BAD policy per se...
@SteveBellovin We have sentient sand now? COOL! And also: WE'RE SO SCREWED!
@whitneymcn @SteveBellovin I for one welcome our new sentient sand overlords!
@SteveBellovin The golems feel sad at this sign
@SteveBellovin a Star Trek: TNG deep cut out in the wild
@SteveBellovin Anakin Skywalker approves of this post
@SteveBellovin trusting lightning powered sand was always going to be a mistake.
@SteveBellovin Going to have to disagree with this one. If it's not thinking, it's wasted matter.
@SteveBellovin “More”? There isn’t *any* sentient sand right now, despite what the #AI true believers say
