I've been using this #tool for years, but I think more people should know about it.

It makes it easy to find a #LaTeX symbol in a few seconds!

Detexify LaTeX handwritten symbol recognition

An approach to simplify finding LaTeX symbols.

@solalnathan Ooh, that's great! If I can add something, this looks like a TeX version of Shapecatcher (http://shapecatcher.com/), which is the same sort of thing but for unicode symbols! perfect for if you want to put a ☉ or a ⍒ or something in your posts and don't want to look up exactly what the thing is called to find it in the character map

Shapecatcher: Draw the Unicode character you want!

You need to find a specific Unicode character? With Shapecatcher.com you can search through a database of characters by simply drawing your character into a box. It can find the most similar character shapes for your drawing.

@Hearth i also made a post about it earlier today: https://sigmoid.social/@solalnathan/109449977421049615

Attached: 1 image People seemed to love yesterday's #tool and asked for a #Unicode version it. Here it is! 🔗 https://shapecatcher.com It does not work as well imo, but it's good enough. Other issues are that it does not seem to be actively maintained since 2012 and it is not libre and open source. The dataset does not (understandably) cover the whole Unicode standard. #AI #ML
