Really enjoy a lot about Mastodon but feels like the odd time I make a lighthearted joke about the place I get scolded or lectured or both. Starting to almost miss the death threats on Twitter.
*cradling Mastodon gently in my arms, giving it a little kiss on the forehead* You need to unclench
@Ciaraioch
It's working!
ZZZZzzzzzzzzz
@Ciaraioch totally this. I get worried that I’m not earnest or meaningful enough (though that is a real life problem too!).
@Ciaraioch it will happen with the influx of users. The stress is related to that too. It will be fine, in the medium run this format is just better. No overlords only slum lords.
@Ciaraioch ah, jaysus. You're just too needy woman. Let the poor wee Mastodon do what it feels is right. If that makes you feckin crazy that's your problem. You're here for OUR entertainment, not the other way round.
@Ciaraioch If you got a death threat on here they'd put it behind a content warning
@mattround @Ciaraioch "This death threat needs alt text"
@Ciaraioch ah feck sake :/
@MichaelMuto It's grand just a bit tedious! The Irish instance is fine it's just when stuff gets outside of it.
@Ciaraioch not noticed that but I get zero interactions 🤣🤣
@chairmanBored w I know you don’t need me to be in your business. But for the benefit of anyone else who sees your post…. If you follow only dozens of accounts, Mastodon will likely be unsatisfactory. We drive interaction. Follow more. Boost more. Reply more. Like more. Use hashtags. Follow hashtags. Or don’t.
@Ciaraioch @chairmanBored exactly the same as your account on the #birdsite then 😂
@Ciaraioch people need to lighten up. There’s no need for others to get so defensive about this place. Sorry you’ve encountered. IMO make all the jokes you want and mute / block the haters. 🤘🏻
@AaronCrocco It genuinely is a minority in fairness but they're the ones that tend to actually reply which just makes it more visible. Not a big deal but just a bit tiresome.

@Ciaraioch I hear that. People act like they have a vested interest in going at people simply for disagreeing. I’ll never understand it.

BTW, I’ve been following you for a long while and I never got to tell you that your art is really effing cool. You do great work. 🤘🏻

@Ciaraioch @AaronCrocco you'll have to coin a new phrase to cover the parsimonious reply guys.
@nocalla You're the ideas guy here get to work!
@Ciaraioch you can send the jokes my way. A little humility does wonders to bring me down from my occasional Koolaid moments. 😁
@Ciaraioch I also find it easier to accept people not getting something if they're idiots, which on Twitter they invariably are, while here they tend to be a little smarter so it's more disheartening when someone completely misunderstands you. I feel let down here when it happens, while on Twitter I feel justifiably superior.
@neonbubble That's a horrible way to talk about other people. Using a particular platform doesn't have anything to do with intelligence.
@Ciaraioch People are going to be protective for a while. This is a new thing to a lot of them and they want it to stay shinny. They'll relax after a while.
@Ciaraioch I have just joined Koo, which I only heard about yesterday. Not sure what the tone is like... kooapp.com

@Ciaraioch

I'm gonna flatter you to DEATH young wan. Tell you stories about how LOVELY and TALENTED you are until your inner critic reaches out and stops your heart in a final moment of desperation

How'd I do?

@froodie Needs slightly more violence but otherwise acceptable
@Ciaraioch are you complaining about people complaining?
@Ciaraioch I have taken to chatting with those who reply regardless of their response. Some people don’t have a sense of humor. Some people are so focused on their reality. Maybe I break a few people free of their constraints. Please don’t stop trying to be lighthearted.
@Ciaraioch @EeeeWooo just because someone doesn’t share your sense of humour doesn’t mean they don’t have a sense of humour.
@caitrionaGalway @EeeeWooo ...I never said they didn't?
@Ciaraioch @EeeeWooo I was replying to the comment made by @EeeeWooo
@caitrionaGalway @EeeeWooo My username first makes it look like you're replying to me. Might be a glitch or site issue.
@caitrionaGalway of course. 🌞 Those were two examples of when I might decide to interact with someone. There are plenty more scenarios one of which would be if they seem to have a different sense of humor than I have.
@EeeeWooo actually you said people don’t have a sense of humour.
@caitrionaGalway it’s unclear to me why you continue this. This is what I said “Some people don’t have a sense of humor. Some people are so focused on their reality.” There’s no suggestion that those two “some”s make up the whole of humanity. Then I replied that those were two examples one might encounter. And that “different sense of humor” -as you suggested - would be another example. And now you assert that I said “people don’t have a sense of humor”. I did not. #SomePeopleAreBored
@EeeeWooo this whole communication reminds be too much of Twitter. I’m ending it now.
@Ciaraioch There’s a bit of righteousness going on here at times. Not at me (I don’t have your clout) but definitely a vibe of How To Do Things Correctly.
@kevinteljeur @Ciaraioch also “we are doing it right and no one else is”. It’s good to be proud of one’s accomplishments. It’s bad to have whatever the social media equivalent of nationalism is.
@kevinteljeur To be fair I think the .ie instance is generally very sound, just seem to catch it from outside it.
@Ciaraioch I think it is - everyone on it knows you and would throw their lives down for you! (Very curious to see when you're calling that favour in). Definitely some very different vibe in different communities that we all collide into.
@Ciaraioch Happened to me too, after my very first post!! Two people started complaining that I wasn't behaving right, even though I did not, and still do not, have any idea why anyone would have gotten irritated by what I wrote. Then they reported me. Just ignore such people and continue being funny you.
@Ciaraioch we are/were all institutionalised to the hate that was never far away on that fowl site.
@richiemcc I do not actually miss death threats. I have had several people tell me they're far more intelligent than people on Twitter by virtue of being on here which is bringing me dangerously close to unplugging the whole internet.
@Ciaraioch I am also not a fan of competitive martyrdom and dreary self-righteousness. We do have an issue with that on Mastodon.
@Ciaraioch You'd nearly miss the trolls/bots. Not looking forward to the day they find out about Mastodon.
@Ciaraioch some people here are very touchy, but the odd thing isthey could choose to unfollow you. I've had a couple of strange ones too.

@Ciaraioch

People can get silly.

Weigh their feedback in proportion to their contribution to the the #mortgage.

Otherwise #fuggem

@Ciaraioch I’m sorry. This is part of why I boost a lot of shitposters. Scares the humorless out of my follows.
@Ciaraioch
Being humorless scolds is the left's genius outreach method. It adds a certain joyless soul-deadening flavor to the long meetings.

@Ciaraioch You mean you get....

...a Ciaraioch Warning?

@Ciaraioch
Tribel has more of a Twitter feel.
@Ciaraioch Over moderation in both moderation and conversational sense feels like a little bit needs to be allowed for people to be adults. A certain point of disallowing from expressing themselves. And that's from my own angle but also seems to be a doubt from minorities cause content warnings are expected to hide uncomfortable realities.
@Ruxtab Have seen that too. Having said that it also feels again like a small number of people making themselves the voice of everyone. I think most people on here are more relaxed and get it, they just aren't the ones in people's replies most of the time.
@Ciaraioch For what it's worth, I really enjoy your banter. Maybe to counteract some of the way-too-serious folks.
@Ciaraioch It's probably hyper-sensitivity in conjunction with life after the cesspool of mainstream social media lol.
@Ciaraioch you really shouldn’t talk about the time people got upset about you talking that other time.
