@StevenBeschloss 🤔 kinda think Biden Union busting is going to have bigger impacts that folks aren’t paying attention too and outside the U.S. Ukraine seems a little more important than either Kanye or hunter’s laptop

Union busting is not an accurate descriptor. The railroad unions are all still there with all their members subject to the same legal regime that's been in place for decades.
The problem is the Labor Department didn't squeeze management into at least a few days of sick time in the tentative agreement.
Everyone knew a strike at this point in time was never going to happen.

You can throw whatever invective you want, it doesn't make it true.
Reagan was a strike breaker, arguably anti-union. Biden is not.
The damage to all working families of a railroad strike as the Fed throws sand in the economic gears & inflation is not quite yet under control.
Do you really want Biden to choose to tip the economy into a severe recession, all too likely handing the 2024 election to the GOP?
I don't and neither do most other union members.

@voron @joeinwynnewood @StevenBeschloss Yep, it's sad the Biden Administration villifies anyone who complains about Unions and the difficulties dealing with them, but the SECOND the Unions start impacting HIM... he forces the Unions into submission. Something no one else in the entire country has the ability to do. BIDEN DOESN'T SUPPORT THE WORKING CLASS. He only cares about Democrats remaining in power - at all costs.

@joeinwynnewood @voron @StevenBeschloss Exactly!!! GET REAL! This is what Unions are about! You can't give unions the power.. then when it's inconvenient, take it away. This is how the bargaining process works. You take away the Unions ability to bargain, you're basically killing the Unions. Rather than hamper the workers, he could have told the railroads to give the sick days. His intervention was TO THE DETRIMENT OF THE WORKERS.

A strike has to hurt management at least as much as the general public or the public has to be fully prepared ahead of time to accept the cost they will pay & still support the union if it is to server its purpose, building union power.
If a strike hurts everyone else more than management and the general public is going to quickly turn against union workers, then it will hurt, not help union interests.
I'm not sure you understand how this works in the real world.

@joeinwynnewood @voron @StevenBeschloss you fail to see the cause and effect. I’ve studied unions extensively, even the ones not permitted to strike. The idea is to not strike at all, but it is one of the few tools available to the workers. This would have never gone through, because then management would be in the spotlight for not providing the requested sick days. You think people are blind? Unions have the power for a reason. Like it or not.

For the same reason this one didn’t.
The certainty of rapid widespread economic damage far outweighs the possibility of extracting additional management concessions.
