LukaEV – MW Motors

MW Motors s.r.o. / Luka EV is the first production car to use in-wheel hub motors. Four motors placed in the wheels deliver 4 x 12,5 kW/66 hp. The car can reach the top speed of 146 km/h and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds.

With apologies to Luka EV, here's what I am excited about, may have to cycle over for a test drive (hey its Friday).
@conormolloy Bold claims, roughly double efficiency of current best serial manufactured EVs...
@glassmanCZ @conormolloy Similar range claims on their more traditional motor setup https://mwmotors.cz/luka-ev-traditional/ with same nice retro looks.
LukaEV Traditional – MW Motors

MW Motors s.r.o. / Luka EV is the first production car to use in-wheel hub motors. Four motors placed in the wheels deliver 4 x 12,5 kW/66 hp. The car can reach the top speed of 146 km/h and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds.

@glassmanCZ Agreed. Always divide manufacturers claims by 2 is my rule, but the looks (I know - I shouldn't).
Deposit down on Aptera but no way am I going with Elon's socket.
@conormolloy @glassmanCZ oh, the Aptera looks fun too. Sadly Tesla have a major advantage in seating 4 or 5 people, so those are not an option for us for now…
@conormolloy not sure the socket is the critical problem :) Aptera is intriguing. I have reservation for Sono Sion, the efficiency might be lower, but practicality appeals to me, plus strong support for bi-directional operations.

@conormolloy that lookrs really cool.

Almost went with Take my money... that estimated 10 Mile/kwh is Apterra numbers. Impressive... better than Arcimoto and Electra Meccanica Solo.

BUT... like Aptera, they still need to deliver. Arcimoto and Electra Meccanica are delivering.

So at this point, I will keep my old Nissan Leaf and just put absurd rims on it.

@thomas +1. Don't forget the go faster stripes on the Leaf 😉
@conormolloy YES... and not Flame Decals because of the Emissions.
@conormolloy This is really cool. I hope this sort of "make it look cool, because you're not tied to ICE form factor" catches on in the U.S. market.
@conormolloy Companies have been trying to make in-wheel motors viable for over a decade. There have been some at the motorcycle level (like QS Motors) but this may be the first offering of a car using in-wheel motors (or hub motors). It really simplifies the design. Good luck to them!
@garykrysztopik Aye, let's hope so.
Aptera is worth following tho' they are at the in wheel motors for over a decade.
