Yesterday I posted about my industry-related read of 2022. My goal for 2023 is to read 5-10 industry-related books. BUT, I have a baby due in January so we’ll see how much reading this new mom actually accomplishes.

What are some not-to-miss books on #design, #ux, #conversationalAI #contentdesign #uxwriting, or adjacent topics? I also enjoy reading about #ai in general and #linguistics.

@LinguaMachina

I have "Inclusive Design Communities" by @samkap sitting on my shelf, just begging to be read as soon as my workload lightens up.

Also… my new parenting experience was that infants will destroy your sleep schedule, but they're surprisingly not all that interactive. I found that reading was surprisingly compatible with feeding a newborn, assuming you're awake enough to do it. Now, once they can sit up and move, all bets are off.

@Chris @samkap I recall that with my nephew! My sister read so much in the early days when he would just sleep on her. I’m hoping I can do the same.
@LinguaMachina @Chris happy reading to both of you! There’s a great content strategy book or few with the same publisher as my book (all links in bio!) and congratulations!
@Chris @LinguaMachina @samkap I second this from (vague, hazy, I barely remember it) past experience. Keep a book handy for when you're trapped in the couch beneath a sleeping baby. Disclaimer: I was sleep deprived for a long time after giving birth and did not have the attention for work-related books for a while. YMMV.
@sharonstern @LinguaMachina @samkap Yeah, that’s the unfortunate thing about sharing baby advice. Unless you’re talking to someone who cares for your own kid, all bets are off. All parenting tips are, in reality, parenting anecdotes.
