As part of my ongoing effort to get away from big tech, I traded my Apple Watch for a #pebble time round using rebbel.io as the backend.

Better form factor, charges in 30 minutes and lasts for two days while still providing the features I use most - weather, media control, notifications, step counts, etc.

Pebble was really amazing, too bad it shut down, but we can thank the folks at #Rebble for reviving this amazing tech! #openSource #throwbackThursday #smallTech

@Beenjammin I hear you. I've been sporting a Time since they shut down... 20 years ago it feels like.

Next one might be one of the open source watches. They've come a long way.

@kg6hxm I’m keeping my eye on the #pinetime but happened to have the pebble sitting around. When they release the #pinebuds I’m gonna be all over that.
@Beenjammin I'm interested in the Pine time too. Is that ready to go?

@kg6hxm it looks great based on specs, and the fact that it’s open source is a huge plus. However I’m not the biggest fan of the Apple Watch style form factor.

My personal preference for a smart watch is that the screen doesn’t need to be full color high res, so we could go e-ink for better form factor and battery life. Any screen on your wrist just isn’t big enough to do anything that requires high resolution.

@Beenjammin I agree there, but I will not die on a hill of perfection or nothing.

These might be great options for my kiddos, one of which doesn't have a phone, and we just want her to know the time.

@Beenjammin I've unapply enjoyed my many Pebbles and Aftershokz and their stupid chargers.

Someone gave us their old iPad, so now I have one (1) computational device that doesn't use usb-c to charge. Eden was too perfect to stay.

@kg6hxm I’ll never forgive apple for their connector-scamming haha
@Beenjammin they didn't ask for your forgiveness, just your money.
