One of the more irritating things about the ‘where are you from’ question is when white people think they’re being cute by being persistent, like you’re trying to make it a mystery rather than rebuffing their racism.

@helpmeskeletor my husband had one who wanted to guess & went through several Asian guesses, also Māori, then argued he wasn’t right when told correct one.
