Calvin, like most other children his age, enjoys making snowmen during the winter. Unlike most other children, though, Calvin's snowmen are almost never regular snowmen; this distancing was often used by Bill Watterson in order to criticize the art scene. On occasions the snowman showed signs of life. They are among the many recurring characters in the comics. The following is a list of relevant snowmen, sets of snowmen or snow sculptures built by Calvin, in order of appearance. Titles in...
@streetartutopia Let's credit when we can!
This is by Matt Morris, Waterloo,Ontario, whose front lawn (along with many nearby public spaces) is a constantly replenishing gallery of snow art, all winter long.
@streetartutopia No worries! it's easy to slip, and we always want to share something cool even if we can't get all the details.
I'm a neighbour though. Matt is quite the phenom in this town, and operates SnowBank Productions, which puts out free videos and a Snow Sculptors Club for kids. It's worth spreading more about him.
@Johannab @streetartutopia Wonderful to have the clarification giving the artist due & deserved recognition.
I'll admit that I was guessing Ottawa because it's so reminiscent of the area I lived in when I was there. That it's Waterloo doesn't surprise me though.
@streetartutopia
Oh my gosh it's not even December.
Can we not start decorating for Easter already? Its bad enough they put Christmas trees out right after Halloween!

Classic!
But... it's CHRISTMAS! Not Easter!π€₯
My middle finger salutes you
I love this! Any chance you could add a description, so blind people can enjoy it to and I can boost?
If you don't know how, feel free to ask.
Heck I'll even provide one to copy and paste if you like:
"Photograph of a suburban house from the street. The front yard is covered with snow and adult size snow sculptures of somber faces like the famous stone faces of Easter Island."
Thanks!
We need this sort of thing in Edmonton to be a judgy reminder to others to clear* their damn sidewalks!
*assuming we ever get snow again
Awww! Sorry to hear that. π’ I hope things winter up for you folks eventually!
I am deeply unhappy about this. Hereabouts, I am anticipating that the parts of the province that didn't burn last year will all go up this coming spring. π’π’π’
@likelyjanlukas @streetartutopia I wrote too soon. Weather in Southwestern Ontario does what it wants, when it wants.
This is the view this morning. It wonβt last, and is already melting.
Nice! I'm glad you had some moisture, even if it was quick-release instead of time-delay. π
Apparently parts of Alberta had some accumulations last night, but I'm not seeing any evidence of this in my part of Edmonton. π
