If you see a random poll, do you take the time to interact with it?

This poll is an example of selection bias
@NeoFox also of people willfully giving contra factual answers
@NeoFox So I voted No to compensate.
@NeoFox sorry for ruining your example, but I can't pass up an opportunity for irony. πŸ€ͺ
I think all the 'No's mean that this poll isn't a random poll.... so people like the poll and think it's a useful poll!
@NeoFox exactly for me anyways

This is a reply to a #poll. If you found this via the hashtag, click open the thread to vote!

(and consider boosting :D)

Admittedly it isn't a very important poll, but certainly a fun/interesting one!

@NeoFox this does make me want to explore that hashtag and answer more random polls!
@NeoFox Studies show that 0% of respondents crumple up surveys and throw them in the garbage.
@NeoFox the question is though. Do you answer randomly too?
@NeoFox It depends on what the poll is about.
@NeoFox
But if you see a poll and say no, wouldn't that invalidate the question?

@NeoFox Depending on the question, I'll usually take the time to answer.

If the poll is obviously targeted at a general audience, I will for sure.

If it seems like it is targeted, like for fans of a specific IP that I know nothing about, I'll definitely skip it.

@NeoFox Had to really think hard to answer this one correctly. It's subtle in several ways.

@NeoFox I'm glad someone took the time to come up with a poll even more biased than mine: https://tech.lgbt/@mark/109401696247846060

Except, weirdly, the results of your poll have come out *less* biased!

I'm curious, how do you prefer to consume information online? Would be amazing if you could boost for improved statistical rigour and all that jazz. #poll #content #information [ ] Text and images [ ] Video [ ] Audio [ ] Other (please explain)

@NeoFox just here for people who click "no".
@NeoFox for me the true answer is β€œmost times”, because sometimes it’s a poll for something that I have no information nor opinion on.
@NeoFox Haha, I wonder of selection bias is at work here!
@NeoFox I said "no" in this random pool that I interacted with, because I never lie on the internet
@NeoFox No, what I do is mute the pollster.
@NeoFox Spiderman. I mean... Yes. Although at this point it's getting tiresome to do all this "vote and boost" crap. It's like we're back to chain letters on deviantart all over again.
@NeoFox I am addicted to polls and like tooting them myself.

@NeoFox sometimes.

/me always reaches for an unavailable option.

@NeoFox, what a paradox! I'm thinking about who's saying no, actually it's yes!
@NeoFox this is like the Steve Martin joke about asking people if there is anyone here who has never put their hand up.
@NeoFox I'm going to spend way too much mental energy thinking about whether or not I want to boost this poll today πŸ˜‚
@NeoFox If that means do I read the question, then yes. Whether I vote is an entirely different matter.
@NeoFox
I just realized the people saying know are lying
@NeoFox Everyone who voted no is a liar. XD
