I was today year’s old when I discovered Brussels sprouts in their native habitat.

(I also discovered it’s “Brussels sprouts” and not “Brussel sprouts.”🤷🏻‍♀️)

@katiephang they are YUMMY roasted with a Balsamic glaze 😋 just sayin’
@GeoffWilbourn @katiephang I second Geoff's statement -- my husband makes them this way sometimes. Pretty yummy.

@katiephang
I know that rule too, but I'll never not say it wrong; I'm stuck in a 60-year old habit.

I think that when it's down to two stalks of brusselS sprouts, they should just decorate them like little holiday trees and make a snowy landscape scene around them.

@katiephang Not to be “that person,” but it’s Brussel’s Sprouts. Named after the Countess of Brussel who wanted to always serve something her children would hate.
@SinclairLewis @katiephang Yeah, also, i believe the variety grown today is not the variety grown like 50 years ago when I was a kid, which was downright miserable...
@katiephang lol. Just another day out on the patch!
@katiephang I just found that out last year! My local grocery store sells them like this around the Holidays. I did a double take.
@katiephang Grew them in my garden this past summer... I think I let them go a little too long bc they were a pain to remove from the stock lol
@katiephang this has just blown my mind.
@katiephang  I guess I was today years old when I discovered it’s “Brussels sprouts”!
@katiephang Little,green alien brains 😀

@katiephang

But did you buy any?

Also, since I'm learning the language, these are called "ruusukaali" Finnish. Which directly translates to Rose Cabbage IMO a nicer-sounding name!

@katiephang Me, too! Saw them in Trader's Joes only last year and was flabbergasted!
@katiephang This is what really blew my mind when I found out: “Brussels sprouts are the same species as cabbage, cauliflower, kale, broccoli and kohlrabi (among others). They are all different parts of the wild cabbage (Brassica oleracea) plant, which have been selectively bred for different exaggerated traits.”
