So far I’d say I like Mastodon more than Post. Tho at the same time I’m already quickly tiring of having to find a new social medial platform.

@ianlivingston
Agree

It's new and will likely improve, but for now, I think it's "boring"? Unlike here, it's difficult to converse, and there are no notifications (occasionally emails).

@Lynda yeah they seemed to prematurely launch with Twitter stuff going down. The comment system is not great if you are seeking real interaction guess they will prob fix it.

@ianlivingston I understand why they let us in. They started by letting in the blue checks, influencers, large accounts from twitter, which wasn’t a good look at all. Letting them jump the line was aggravating and turning off a lot of folks. Plus, they saw twitter degrading worse and worse everyday, so they let a bunch of us in - begging us to understand that we’re the beta testers.

I’m sure that over time they fix “stuff”. For now, I go there about once a day. 😊

@Lynda yeah agreed. questionable rollout on several levels. it is a contender but so far I don't feel too drawn to it.
@ianlivingston @Lynda Ian, one of your Washington Post colleagues pointed out some problematic issues with Post News earlier today on multiple platforms, especially regarding one of the key funders. And the reply sent by the CEO wasn’t all that great. Definitely some red flags for me there.
@bktandem @Lynda had not seen but just went looking a bit. interesting. vibes are weird with regard to that place at the moment for sure.
@ianlivingston @Lynda funny you mention weird…after feeling really welcome here with my first couple of interactions with the Fediverse, I go there to write my first post and mentioned how it felt weird. First reply comes in seconds and it was someone kind of blaming me for it being weird because my first post there wasn’t interesting enough. Like, what?
