@[email protected] I’m on Post, but I need someone to explain to me why everyone’s so excited about it. It’s single-column, so it’s harder to track posts, and there is paid content. So what’s the attraction?

@GottaLaff @MelissaJPeltier I see pros and cons. It is basically still a beta with a lot of work to do. Plainly, they rolled it out too fast because they wanted to seize the moment. It's hard to follow threads. The notifications process is a mess. The payments system is confusing, but will no doubt have some creators salivating. Whether it ever works will be interesting. The "medium" aspect might also be interesting, but not personally what I am looking for.

I'm not yet convinced, but I haven't see the final product either. It is certainly a possibility to keep. But frankly, software is not important. Where are the creators going? That's all I used Twitter for, which was never a major platform for me as a creator. There, I was mostly a user. I only cross-posted to Twitter. What platforms will creators flock to? I can figure the rest out in terms of tech stuff. I've already disqualified a couple. I would tend to keep Mastodon and Post, although the latter is projection just now.

@marksquires @[email protected] I’m not judging the beta thing, I get that. For me it’s strictly format. I’m here to read and share news and commentary, and that’s what i did on Twitter (along with a few fun posts here and there). Twitter got me regular stints on radio, podcasts. It changed my life. I’m now feeling a little disoriented and frustrated.
@GottaLaff @MelissaJPeltier Change is hard. A few weeks pass and you may wonder what the problem was. Finding the right button to click in the beginning is always the hardest part. Then it improves geometrically.
@marksquires But that's my point. I don't want to have to find a button. Here on Mastodon, with multi-columns, I don't have to fumble around looking for that. I see it at a glance.
