And now Toot! v17.1 is out, as well!

https://toot.to/

This is the second in a series of releases that implement support for new Mastodon features. More will come in the near future, but this version offers:

* Support for different limits on different servers. Some servers allow longer toots, more attachments, or more poll options.
* Support for editing your toots if your server is on Mastodon 4.0.

App Store
@tootapp Does it have a Translate feature?
@Robyn780

Translate is not available yet.

Maybe it could be supported like in Metatext by selecting the text and using the native translation interface.
@pacbard thank you
@pacbard that’s awesome. Has no idea I could do that and I just tried it. Really appreciate that!
@tootapp Thank you for reinvesting in my favorite app. Looking forward to not having to go to the web to edit.
@tootapp thank you!!! Very excited that you added editing support!
@tootapp doesn’t seem to be available in the App Store just yet.

@tootapp oh, after a few obsessive refreshes of app updates it’s there now. Yippy!

Edited to add: This toot edited from the Toot! App!

@thatKomputerKat Do what I did: force the update. Locate the app in the store, it will have the word "Open" beside it.
Tap on the app's icon to see more info. "Open" then becomes "Update." @tootapp
@tootapp 👍🏻 What about a scrollbar? Or do I just not see it? 🤔
@tootapp Are you planning on making the animations respect "reduce motion"? I really love the app but the amount of animation is just too much for me unfortunately. (I totally grok that others love it, though!)
@alephnaught2tog Ideally at some point yeah. Just a lot to go through to do that.
@tootapp Hell yeah!!! Thank you for the update!!

@tootapp

Thanks for the great app! 🙏🏻

@tootapp

One question or suggestion, would it be possible to get rid of the "Removed by filter" rows?

@supermurs Not really, for both technical reasons and because it would probably be more confusing.

@tootapp

Understood, thanks for the response! ☺️

@tootapp @supermurs Could you perhaps add the name of the filter like on the Web UI?
@nileane @supermurs This is part of the new filtering API, which I don't think I will implement until more servers are on v4, because I don't want to have to support two different filtering APIs in the app, and I also don't want to leave people on instances that haven't updated yet without filtering.
@tootapp @supermurs I see, that makes sense :)
@nileane @supermurs I am looking forward to adding it though, because it will let me remove a lot of junk from the app. Just can't remove it until everyone is ready.
@tootapp wow 🤩 didn't expect Edit to arrive so soon! 🎉
@tootapp editing support 👏👏 thx
@tootapp any plans for accessibility improvements? I find the font too small to use.
@ljpuk @tootapp Really hope you can use your own local fonts for Toot! 🖊️
@tootapp
Huh. I thought this was the CLI app, but it is some apple thingy apparently...
@bkastl
@tootapp Thank you! I might consider Toot now, because of your support for different limits.
@tootapp Awesome, thank you! I love Toot! ❤️
@tootapp Does the timeline stay where you left it or scroll to the top every time you refresh? That’s kind of a make or break feature for me.
@NateBarham The timeline stays in place as much as possible, but to refresh you do need to scroll to the top anyway?
@tootapp Ah! Good question. So some clients, like Metatext and the official app, have a “load new posts” bar that comes in and loads new posts above or below or just completely obliterate your position and take you to the top.
@NateBarham No, that is designed to work as smoothly as possible. It will react to your scrolling direction so it knows which direction to load more posts in.
@tootapp @NateBarham I really love this  it such a nice detail! thank you very much!
@tootapp Fantastic app! Can you add the ability to select the post text? I often need to translate the text of posts from unfamiliar languages. Now, to do this, I need to make four clicks: 1) open the post menu, 2) select "share toot", 3) select "as text", 4) select a translator (e.g. DeepL).
It would also be great to be able to share "as text" a thread to translate all posts at once.
@tootapp available for Android too?
@tootapp toot and metatext are the best
@tootapp Thank! Edit feature is great, and just tested, it works.
@tootapp Any chance you added support for changing the font size yet? I bought it and then found it was completely unusable without wearing reading glasses.
@tootapp I always used a paid app in the other place. What can yours do that the free one can’t do?

@tootapp
Your techie description is meaningful only to the bits and bytes people! Try describing how your app has improved usability, or simplified Mastodon complexity, or provided an automated intelligent feed, or given people a Twitter lookalike switch... if you have such improvements.

If you don't, perhaps you could get to work on these?

@tootapp Is there a chance you might implement font size configuration? My old eyes are having trouble using Toot! late at night, even though it's my favorite Mastodon client.
@jesse I'm hoping to get around to that eventually, it's just a slightly big task.
@tootapp I can imagine! (I've never actually done iOS dev and have no idea how the platform affordances work.)
@jesse The affordances for this are actually good, the problem is that changing the font size is likely to break the designs and layouts everywhere and I have to go through everything and fix it it one by one.
@tootapp @jesse another one, maybe simpler: could you make the arrows (the up or down arrows to complete gaps in the timeline) bigger? It is extremely hard to know if the arrow is pointing up or down 🧐

@tootapp Congregation!

Would you like to support status:language ?

https://docs.joinmastodon.org/methods/statuses/

when it is blank, new feature translation does not work.

statuses API methods - Mastodon documentation

Publish, interact, and view information about statuses.

@tootapp OH MY GOD YESSSS. Those were my two biggest sticking points. Love your work!!

@tootapp yay, thank you!

(edited with Toot! ;))

@tootapp Wonderful, thank you for reviving this project. I came across Toot! a few weeks ago but noticed that it was dormant and therefore moved on to other apps. With the addition of the Edit feature, I think this is now the most feature-rich app on iOS (and definitely the most beautiful!) so I decided to make a purchase.
@tootapp It would be absolutely fabulous if the app enabled users to change the font size in the app. The tiny font size is the one feature that keeps me from being able to use it. #accessibility
@WarYarnSpinner @tootapp I really wish the web version had a navigation bar with an arrow at the top and the bottom to move up one line in either direction. As it is, I often miss a lot because it scrolls in big half-page sized chunks and it's hard to get back to see what it scrolled past.
@tootapp feat: text selection please 🙏
