Well this is hard, i also might have went a little overboard with the perspective guides. I think i will give it another go with the other cars and maybe try to be a little more loose with it.
@Narukyuu Very good study! I find it hard to be so precise and often mess it up, so well done! It is a skill in itself to be able to make such a correct technical drawing. You've clearly understood how to use boxes to get your perspective right and I think it is very good to set yourself a goal to be a bit more loose. I find that the more precise I want to be the easier I mess it up, and the more my mistakes stick out. 1/2
@Narukyuu 2/2 So allowing yourself to be loose and leave some imperfections actually benefits your drawing as well. You know of the 'Uncanny valley'? A term that originates from android robotics. It's also used in animation, it means that the closer you get to a realistic human figure, the more disturbing it gets, until it is so realistic you can't really tell the difference. I find that the same rule applies to detail and realism in art.
@BenjaminBrinckmann thank you for the comments! I did use a little bit of digital help with the clip studio perspective rulers, and I do have previous understanding of how perspective works so I feel like the main struggle I had was with finding the proportions that felt the most correct, loosening up and letting things be imperfect is in the works for me and probably harder than doing this kind of study
@Narukyuu You're absolutely right, it is harder to be 'correctly loose'. But exercising perspective in this manner is the road towards it. There's nothing wrong with using digital aides in order to get you're perspective right. In fact, I think it's a good idea to do so in the beginning, because it makes the subject less overwhelming and helps you build an understanding of the rules.
@Narukyuu It can be good to not want to be too real because the mistakes/unrealistic parts really stand out. Having a loose style makes you hide many other imperfections. However, to get good at it you have to make technical studies as this one, so you know where you can bend the rules without them being noticed. So good job!
@Narukyuu you might have done too much perspective guides, but the end result is really satisfying to look at! Curious to see what you'll draw next!
