By trying to not toot stuff outside of the gamedev topics, I have a growing anxiety and am afraid to have a LinkedIn like discourse.
I don’t want LinkedIn discourse here.
I want new connections, ideas for midjourney prompts, silly Christmas nerdy stuff, pics of random shit and tips about how to be a good gamedev parent.
Yeah

And you?

@Siam I try to spread my non-gaming stuff mainly to followers via Unlisted posts & keep Public stuff (that'll be on the Local timeline of all 16,000 other instance members) to at least game/tech adjacent.
@shivoa I understand that but how do I find "you" if you don’t post random stuff on the listed feed? It’s not in my habits to just randomly follow people, so maybe that’s my flaw here?
@Siam I'm generally here for gamedev, so I mainly read Local & don't need to follow people on this instance. I occasionally check people's profiles to see what else they're saying (as that shows Unlisted posts too) and boosting.
After this flood of new users recedes somewhat, it will probably be easier to spot active members & follow when you find someone posting quality Unlisted content (or you don't want to read Local all the time).
@shivoa thank you so much for your insights. I know how a working ecosystem can be easily disrupted with some uncareful new guests… I’m still trying to explain the concept of netiquette to the younglings at work - all I get is awe and disbelief.
