😱 Michele Mone. PPEMedpro. She leveraged the Gov VIP Lane ( High Court says unlawful)

Ā£203 million contracts awarded. Ā£65 m profits to PPE MEDPRO. Ā£45.8 mill of that landed in Mone’s then fiancĆ© now husband, Douglas Barrowman off shore trust, the Warren Trust. He then diverted Ā£28.8 mill of that to a Mone family off shore Trust, the Keristal Trust, of which Mone & her adult children are beneficiaries.

All the while Mone and Barrowman are claiming the contract awards were nothing to do with them, mate.

Who me?

Remember 25 mill of the supposed sterile gowns were rejected

And you can see why when you see the conditions in which they were made and the efforts to pass off hinky BSI certification.

In addition the HMRC has presented a winding up petition re PPE MEDCO re non payment of tax.

And Michele Mone is a law maker in the House of Lords. Yes. She’s under investigation there, too.

5/ Summary of the flow of money here

Having done a 5read I see that @gem_abbott has done one too, unsurprisingly as it was the @goodlawproject that took the Gov to court over it. Bravo @goodlawproject
But way back in 2020 I was asking why someone who flogged ladies clothing and a pest removal company with not much in the way of assets were getting a £ multi million PPE contract at all.

I thought I should add one of the most enjoyable articles about Baroness Knickers is an FT article of exactly a year ago yesterday. ā€œAh, Lady Mone of Mayfair, our favourite Glaswegian lingerie-entrepreneur-turned-Tory-peer-cum-shopping-channel-star-cum-world-expert-in-cryptocurrency-and-blockchain. Haven’t you missed her? Well fear not — she’s back.ā€

I do hope Jemima Kelly and Anna Gross revisit it now.

Just how close is Baroness Mone to PPE Medpro?

News, analysis and comment from the Financial Times, the worldʼs leading global business publication

A little reminder of earlier iterations of Baroness Knickers.

Here she is calling an SNP MP ā€œa moronā€ and saying she’ll be a Baroness for life when he’ll be out of a job

We’ll see about that.

Vulgar little madam, isn’t she?

And her she is advocating that if you want something in life just go and get it.

Well she certainly did that.

And advising people to put on their make up to feel their best self before filling the ā€œbucketsā€ in their life.

Well she certainly filled hers with our money.

Dan Neidle, former head of tax at Clifford Chance and founder of think-tank Tax Policy Associates, said HM Revenue & Customs, the UK tax authority, might view the £29mn as a payment to Mone for her services in helping the company get its contracts.

HSBC froze accounts linked to Tory peer Michelle Mone during corruption probe

ā€œOn that basis, it is fully taxable, whether she receives it in the UK, puts it into a trust, or keeps it on the moon. Members of the House of Lords are deemed to be UK resident and domiciled,ā€ Neidle said. ā€œHer response may be that it was a gift from her partner, but if there hasn’t been a pattern of similar gifts then HMRC will likely be very sceptical.ā€

Another twist to the tale from the same FT article.

More than Ā£700,000 was also transferred to the account of Mone’s eldest daughter Rebecca and Ā£3m to an account Mone had with @CouttsandCo.

And where did Rebecca (Bec)’s slice of the PPE profits go? She took over her Mum’s tanning business in 2017, but also models Baroness Knickers underwear line for her.

That business has not filed accounts beyond 2016 & was not v profitable

Indeed it lurched in and out of strike off in 2022

Certainly not obviously profitable enough to fund the £1.63 million apparently spent on luxury Glasgow properties

Her brother spent a more modest Ā£750k, & sister Ā£825k. Maybe ā€˜Bec’ ( as she calls herself on LinkedIn) has more obviously profitable companies off shore like her mother…?

Or maybe the British taxpayer gave an unknowing helping hand?
