Imagine your #Mastodon server going from 60 accounts to 22K+ in a matter of days — and you also have a day job. Huge thanks to @chad for everything he’s doing on our instance.

I can’t begin to imagine the pressure of a glitchy server plus multiple angry messages from people who have no idea how things go down behind the scenes.

Contribute some $$$ if you’re able, friends. Volunteers burn out without support.

@StaceyCornelius @chad - Coming from the Open Source world long before Mastadon was a thing, nothing makes me angrier than users yelling at volunteers who are doing something out of their own passion.

Some users of FOSS software, especially those that don't understand the underlying ethos of it, are impossibly entitled because they think it's no different than a corporation on the other end.

@adderbox76 @chad We're (over)trained to be consumers, aren't we.

I'm grateful that I'm a lifelong maker of things. The ethos of craft is in my bones. Tech not as much — I trained to be a programmer ages ago, but didn't stay in the industry. I'm also grateful for that education.

I'm not logical enough in my thought processes to be a good coder, but I get the core concepts of a lot of it. And I get how tough it can be to track down issues.
