My #photography is part art, and part #documentary. Many places I have explored over the years are now gone.

This is one example from my hometown of #Manchester #England.

This is a photo of a substation building, which was part of Agecroft A #powerstation. Agecroft closed in the early 1990s, and was mostly demolished soon after.

This substation survived until 2020, I was lucky enough to get inside and take photos only days before the control panels were removed. Now the room stands empty.

@ObsidianUrbex Some of the old control rooms were utterly exquisite. Art Novo was a thing when some of them were built, and it showed. Sadly, as my career moved from the old stations to the new, we became utterly utilitarian, albeit more complicated.
@incredibish I agree! I adore Art Deco, but even the 1940/50s ones still retained features of this style. These are some of my favourites so far, I especially love the range of colours they are!
@ObsidianUrbex Gods, how glorious to have worked in such cathedrals. I can't see a green phone anywhere though. (UK Grid Control Telephony was / is generally green to differentiate from other phones).
@incredibish ah these are in France, Italy and Hungary. Guess they work on a different system? Beautiful spaces though 😍
