🧵 A spooky story for you.
I used to hike (& sometimes get lost) in a 970sq mile forest filled with wild boar, which are very dangerous. I once had an accident in there, snapped the tendons in my leg, and had to limp my way out in the dark. 6 weeks in a leg brace. But that's another story.

Odenwald is as #folkhorror as it gets. There are monastery ruins, ancient settlements & even a hidden 3rd Reich amphitheatre. Myths & legends abound about devils, ghosts, witches, and headless men...

On another hike, again when night fell before I had time to get out, I suddenly spotted a single column of mist drifting along the path toward me. I thought it was a person at 1st. It moved like one and came toward me at walking speed, went past & around me, and then disappeared on up the path. There was otherwise no mist. Such a strange experience. Not sure what kind of odd atmospheric condition that is.
Fortunately, I had the wherewithal to whip out my camera in time.
