I intend to delete all my tweets and wind my Twitter account down (protected, empty, squatting the handle).

Is there anything you'd like me to consider as I begin to move in that direction over the next few weeks?

A little more context for this decision. https://hiredthought.com/2022/11/25/easy-come-easy-go/

Hired Thought

Hm. Reading this from Venkatesh Rao: https://studio.ribbonfarm.com/p/the-muskening-part-ii

Part of what I've been concerned about is the "sustaining trends I don't want to contribute to" bit.

Undoubtedly I'm overestimating how much the preservation of _my_ tweets in particular contributes there. Doubt it matters at all, tbh.

@hiredthought
There’s an interesting archive option here that I’m going to try https://tiddlywiki.com/prerelease/editions/twitter-archivist/
@christina fabulous! I was hoping something like this might exist!
@hiredthought @christina This is the image that jumped into my mind when I read that original tweet/toot: https://xkcd.com/979

@hiredthought @christina another option might be taking a look at tweetback (https://github.com/tweetback/tweetback). based on your twitter archive you are able to build a static site with eleventy.

@hiredthought also you can sync your history into nastodon.

@hiredthought just make sure the bio points to wherever you currently maintain “stuff”
@hiredthought put your mastodon id in your name and bio. Maybe ping a tweet about how to move to mastodon.

@hiredthought I was considering the same.
Thank you for this thread! It gives some valuable options.

Now that the asshole gives amnesty to the assholes, I'm seriously considering the option to close my Twitter account 🤔

Infosec Exchange
@tdpauw I'm slowly coming around to the idea of leaving the tweets up. With a protected account I don't post to often, I think that is close enough to my goal of not having any part in the currently unfolding Twitter story.
@tdpauw or rather, the marginal moral gain for deleting all tweets is so small that it seems unnecessarily mean to go through with it.
@hiredthought That seems a fair choice. I agree.
Others have also suggested that I turn my Twitter account into a protected account.
