Your Black Friday reminder that the economy is at least 50% more concentrated now than it was in 2005. Shop small if you can. Please.
Thanks for the remainder professor @rbreich !
@rbreich I'm not shopping at all. Instead, I'm taking my Krampus friend to a Christmas parade. We used to crash the parade, but this year we're VIPs! Fleas Navidad!
@rbreich Don't you worry that our individual actions merely pacify us from acting against the companies? If a thousand people don't shop for a day they'll still sit pretty. Easy ways out are how they stop us from uniting in action, we need to focus on spreading the word and raising our voice in the media

@rbreich friendly reminder that Mr. Reich doesn't want Biden to run in 2024.

Times up Robert

@rbreich Used, thrifted, or handmade only for me this weekend.
@rbreich Why shop small? I don't get it.
@rbreich chocolates from the local chocolatier, meat from my butcher shop, moonshine from the distillery 45 mins down the road, rum and gin from the distillery in my small city, farmers market stocking stuffers. I’m keeping it all local this year. The less I give to corporations the better!
@rbreich I live in Germany, and there are notices on empty shelves explaining that the Mars corporation won't deliver their products at a reasonable price. It probably doesn't hurt the store's own-brand sales, but even so...
@rbreich can you explain what you mean by an economy being concentrated?
@rbreich @EvyM we did morning line at my local game shop.
@rbreich Right on , keep speaking the truth , we need your voice
@rbreich I didn’t need anything, so I didn’t shop at all today.
@rbreich I’ve been using Amazon to find things, then I go to the company website or brick and mortar and order/buy from there. I find what I need and I don’t have to buy from Amazon. :)
@rbreich
The only thing I'm buying is a sandwich 🥪
@rbreich
That reminds me. The independent bookstore I order from (Strand Book Store) is having an online holiday sale. I don’t need any books, but I must review the list of books I want to see if I will be putting in an order 😄📚
@rbreich I quit Amazon about two or so years ago, and after that, have almost stopped shopping on-line. Not through choice, but because individual retailers have web-sites which normally are problematic to use, and even when I can get past this, they have billing which is problematic to use, and then there's shipping, which is a whole new set of problems. I think on-line shopping works and only works if you buy in the country you are in, and also use a bank card from that country.
@rbreich I've been celebrating buy nothing day on this day my whole life.
@rbreich what is your source?
@rbreich I’m not sure what you mean when you say the economy is “more concentrated.”
@rbreich didn’t shop at all on BF. I refuse to be a sheep.
