After the great #tadpole rescue yesterday, there’s now several hundred new residents in the pond. If you’ve always wanted to know what tadpoles sound like when they are eating the keep your sound on
@Allison They look like dormice with tadpole tails. I’ve never seen tadpoles that look like that (or maybe I have been looking closely enough)
@Allison A friend collected some tadpoles for me from the local environment centre in 2020 (they have a tiny pond near a lake/swamp/bird sanctuary that always gets an unsustainable amount of eggs laid in it) and now I have frogs in my backyard pond! ^_^ The most frogs I've counted around my house is six frogs.
@Lilysea Out here in the Pilliga all the frogs live underground - these tadpoles are of Ornate Burrowing Frogs - the only time we have seen them is when we accidentally dug one up once (and it was very annoyed)
