It bothers me that people can’t see how marginalized people are guarding their safety and that we are encouraging them to do that rather than to work to make spaces safe for them.

- this place isn’t safe for me
- go to another place then
- I can’t find a place that is safe for me
- then make a place that is safe for you
- I made a place that is safe for me
- why won’t you associate with my place???
- it isn’t safe for me, so I had to disassociate from it
- THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE

- I need more tools to guard my safety
- your tools would inconvenience me
- without them I can’t be here
- with them, I might be inconvenienced
- I guess I can’t be here then
- WHY ARE YOU LEAVING???
- this place is so white
- I have no idea why, it’s such a pleasant place
- I was harassed by Nazis
- that never happened to me, I don’t believe you
- I have screenshots
- you must’ve done something wrong
@Patricia Literally the first post I saw on another instance was someone defending fascism and using the n-word.. sooo yeah. Luckily not on this instance though, at least so far.
@nino 😞 yeah, I had a flood of that just a few days in
@Patricia I'm really sorry to hear that.. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be!
