Always fun to see this doing the rounds on social media.

Chuck Jones' nine rules for the #Roadrunner cartoons:

@hoctor It’s so great. Part of what I love too is the “rules are meant to be broken” element, since they did, in the end, break several. (Like #4; there are a few episodes with dialogue, either coyote talking to the viewer or other characters…)
@SaschaFreud Yeah. I mean, you could argue that rule #1 immediately breaks rule #2?
@hoctor This is fantastic. 50 years later this all makes sense now.

@RussSharek
RULE}.

‘THE ROAD RUNNER CANNOT HARM THE COYOTE
EXCEPT BY GOING "BEEP-BEEP!”

RULE 2.

NO OUTSIDE FORCE CAN HARM THE COYOTE - ONLY HIS OWN
INEPTITUDE OR THE FAILURE OF THE ACME PRODUCTS.

RIE >. 2
THE COYOTE COULD STOP ANYTIME ~ IF HE WERE NOT A FANATI(
(REPEAT: "A FANATIC 1S ONE WHO REDOUBLES HIS EFFORT WHEN
HE HAS FORGOTTEN HIS AIM” -GEORGE SANTAYANA)

RULE Ip
NO DIALOGUE EVER, EXCEPT "BEEP-BEEPI”

R

LOGICALLY, HE WOULD NOT BE CALLED ROAD RUNNER,

RULE b.

OF THE TWO CHARACTERS ~ THE SOUTHWEST AMERICAN DESERT:

MATERIALS, TOOLS, WEAPONS, OR MECHANICAL CONVENIENCES I
MUST BE OBTAINED FROM THE ACME CORPORATION, 4

RULE §
WHENEVER POSSIBLE, MAKE GRAVITY THE COYOTE'S GREATEST ENER

RUE F.
‘THE COYOTE 1S ALWAYS MORE HUMILIATED THAN HARMED
BY HIS FAILURES.

@RussSharek An OCR bot eh? Superb! I will bookmark that for when I need it again.

@hoctor

It's a really handy tool for sure. By no means a 100% alternative to adding alt text to a image, but it does help.

There are several 'ocrbots' floating around the fedi. This was the first one I found.

@hoctor
10: ACME’s magic holes are only functional for Roadrunner.
11: ACME corp was founded 200 years ago by witches murdered by coyotes.
@hoctor I always have the urge to point out the episode that makes it canonical that the roadrunner likely owns Acme Corporation: A Wholly-Owned Subsidiary of Roadrunner Corporation
