If "Home" is completely empty here on Mastodon, start using hashtags. Use 'em in your posts, click 'em in your timelines, follow 'em. That's how people connect (and interconnect between Mastodon instances). There is no global search, intentionally. Don't view the value of this experience through the lens of a previous one. @ChrisPirillo it's bizarre to see people making heavy use of hashtags honestly

it's never been a feature we or most people we saw around fedi used, so it's weird to see everyone using tons of them suddenly

i'm not saying they're bad! just, i feel like we've seen more hashtags in posts in the last month than the entire rest of the five years we've been on the platform

@ChrisPirillo It's a little hard for us to understand (we've never been on any social media other than this), but i hope you and all the other twitter emigrants can find a comfortable way to interact with people!
