I see that #Hive is trending so I tried it and so far it's quite unfinished and suspicious. - There's no web version (a big no for me) - The app forbids to use or post media unless you give access to ALL your media on iOS. This is a HUGE red flag to me. (on iOS, when an app asks for a media, you can give it only a selection of media to avoid hack/download of all your media library (you now, privacy etc). Hive doesn't accept that and asks for all access) Also no 2FA, no DPO (so not GDPR compliant for privacy)... Just for you to know.
@SharkBytes @majornelson wait. So hive usernames aren't unique?
Also I heard it was ran by just two people
you'll start seeing text based content once you follow people. The picture based stuff is for the discovery function only. It's a little weird.
@majornelson Hive is Twitter 2. The thing about it (in my mind) is that if I want Twitter, I stay on Twitter. 🤷♂️
Mastodon is 'the internet' (decentralized) but for social interactions.
I keep saying, Xbox should host their own server. It is fully managed and fully controlled by Microsoft/Xbox team and is accessible by any other servers.
@SpiderLuke @majornelson Hive is simpler to join. Put your phone, and done. Centralized systems are easier to manage and control.
Every individual person needs to ask "why I'm looking elsewhere?". If you are changing to the same thing, why change in the first place.
