Blocking an instance where the government has created a public relations account does not "hide" anything from the government.

Telling vulnerable people "its ok you are safe now, the government cannot see you, you are hidden" on a public social media protocol is lying. You are lying to vulnerable people.

You are not their protector. You are leading them to their slaughter with false platitudes.

@r000t Link to context please?

Agreed. This is really odd, especially as the aforementioned government can likely compel the data to be handed over one way or another.

@crablab drama because CISA created an account on infosec.exchange

@r000t

@r3pek @r000t Okay... They're the equivalent of the UK NCSC iirc?

Seems like a reasonable place for them to create an account, although I'd argue it's better to do what Germany/EU have done and set up a server for all official accounts 🤷

@r000t Thank fuck someone said it.
@r000t imagine the lack of critical thinking skills that goes into thinking blocking an overt public relations account would prevent them from doing covert surveillance using accounts not in their own name.
@r000t oh my god are people saying that

@r000t I also like to imagine what admins are saying to their users when they defederate my instance and get mad about it.

How dare you tell your users that red bull gives you wings. It DOES NOT literally give you wings and it's very dangerous of you to assert that it does

@r000t Sounds like a honeypot.
