Pekka Sipilä@jessegreyson I have thought about testing unofficial Mastodon apps but don't know if they have been thoroughly vetted. Have stuck with the official and browser access for additional features for now.
I'm not sure if we should be suggesting unofficials to non-tech-savvy users who can't validate the apps' source code themselves for potentially malicious behavior.

@[email protected] @[email protected] For me the holdout on unofficial Mastodon apps is trust. Can I trust this small vendor not to gather my login info on the app. Same obviously goes for the official app but I guess I need to trust something to start with. Currently don't have the time to go through app source code to validate this. Does F-droid or anybody else do this kind of validation for Android?
@jessegreyson As to my knowledge, Google or Apple app store reviews don't catch such behaviors as the app sending user's login info to its own server that it can use later without the user's knowledge.
