I forgot hashtags existed on my first virtual pottery post, so I'll repeat the background info in this one in case new people see it due to the tags. This image is a piece of #VirtualPottery titled "Funnel Cloud" that I created within the game Master of Pottery (steam). I'd describe it as a geometricized tornado. I'm interested in discussing games which include art-making or artistic #crafting, and also #litRPG stories like this. Or 3D printing virtual art. #VirtualArt #MasterOfPottery
"Geometricized" isn't a very good label, but partially abstracted representational art like this doesn't really have a good label. Its origins are prehistoric, and mainly a result of the difficulty of sculpting or painting with primitive tools, and maybe the lack of art education. Giving things a geometric look, whether low-poly or cartoony curves, has been periodically popular from ancient Egypt to Art Deco. The art of Zuni Pueblo is especially worth studying if you like this style.
