British politics might be abuzz with talk of a "Swiss-style" relationship with the European Union but the mood on the Continent is one of polite bemusement.

The EU, a diplomat said, wouldn’t react until London actually put something forward. “It comes back to a little bit that’s been ongoing for a long time: it seems to be London talking to London and London trying to figure out what London can accept. I’m getting bored of giving the same answer.”

While Sunak’s government tries to hose down report it’s after closer ties, the EU has yet to be presented with anything concrete.

@TheEuropeanNetwork How they tolerate it I will never know. I have now moved to Europe from the UK to simply to get out. The difficulties we have had with paperwork,Medical ect has left me feeling that I will never for forgive my country for removing my FOM rights. I was once very proud to be British,no longer. I am embarrassed at its behaviour on a daily basis.

I'm surprised they are still surprised. This was just another internal ruse in the Conservative party. Trail an idea and see who gets seriously upset, and whether the extremists are getting any closer to the reality of the disaster that a hard Brexit has brought, and will bring.

It's an alternative to mature debate in a party which is in a state of panic and can't admit it.

@TheEuropeanNetwork EU sees clearly what's happening, has happened and what is likely to happen in the near future. WE need to listen to them so as to be able to prepare ourselves however we can.
