So- not really worked anything out yet fully, but is this called a toot then? This is my second time of visiting and lots more activity to see- so much to learn still
@Wraggy It takes some getting used to but you'll get the hang!
It's toots/tooting not tweeting
"Boost" instead of RT's but you don't have the quote option for those...
People are on different "Instances" (aka servers) so unless they are on the same one as you, you'll need their full @ addy for you to be able to tag them as anyone can use your name on another Instance
@ducktapepr ahaaaaaa….thank you- yes- I think the lingo is starting to settle. Tooting seems easy, it’s just the rest….but am finding people slowly. The @ wherevers are the confusion…and not sure yet of all buttons, can only handle quick visits as I have no patience with tech😂
@Wraggy I recommend you use it on a browser while you're getting the hang of things and finding people etc, the reason I say this is because apps by system/sites default often don't allow you to do a lot of the things you need to do... for example quite often the ability to see what people on other servers have "tooted" as by default they say theres basically nothing to see (same with follows/followers)
@Wraggy Its a bit of a trial and error... they have been running since 2016 but theres now thousands of us all learning at once 🤣🤣 Happy to help where I can! ☺️
@Wraggy But basically remember to make sure when logging in you do so on your own server (for you and I its mastodon.world) because otherwise as Ive explained to others it would be a bit like trying to log into your twitter account while you're on the Argos website 🤣 so when someones on the same one as you, you can simply put for example @Wraggy (a list might even appear to help!) if its someone on a different one like @ClaireHayward (excuse me here Claire 😂lol) you put the full details ☺️
@ducktapepr Can I ask a question here. If I'm on the Mastodon app, do I have a server, and if so...how would I find out please? 🤔 XxX

@ClaireHayward

Mastodonapp.uk is your server (you can tell who's on what based on the part after your name.)
for Example it will show I'm on mastodon.world ☺️

Thank you @ducktapepr I knew the end bit dictated what server you were, but I did appreciate that the app was one in its own right. XxX

@ClaireHayward

The app itself isn't, I don't believe because I have the Mastodon app and I'm defo not on the same server as you. You just happen to be registered on one thats named as such I think. (Eg if you typed mastodonapp.uk into a browser address bar, you'd get mastodon as a whole website! xxx

@ducktapepr Okay, I think I get it. But goodness me this is making my poor old brain hurt! 🧠🤯🙈🤪 XxX
@Wraggy I forgot I had an account here. I’m still hanging around on Twitter
