A question/challenge for @bookstodon #amreading #readingcommunity etc: I'm a big fan of murder mysteries, especially Golden Age style. Not "cosy" per se (no pet groomer/baker/candlestick maker 'PI's) , ,just mysteries focused on detection, minimally gory & minimally twee. As Festivus/Saturnalia approaches, are there are any such murder mysteries with a SUMMER Xmas setting, for those of us living at the top of the world in the summery Southern Hemisphere?
@ronsboy67 @bookstodon Hercule Poirot's Christmas, if you're in the mood for a good old Agatha Christie whodunit!
@rutwikj @bookstodon Is it set in SUMMER? I absolutely love Golden Age Mysteries and will tooting much more about them over the next few weeks. I thought I'd read all Poirot (and re-read >50%), but don't recall this one. A murder mystery set in a summer Xmas would be fun for the 20% of the world who experience it every year 😀
@ronsboy67 @bookstodon oh no, my bad, it isn't set in summer - unfortunately, Christie's little Belgian detective didn't make any travels that I can recall to the southern hemisphere. It's about a family that has fallen apart but is surprisingly called back by the old patriarch for a Christmas eve dinner (iirc it was set in the English countryside somewhere)
