I am reminded for some reason of 10 years ago when I met an artist in Galway, and when I asked him what his medium was he said "I work with sound, and work with other local people making pieces with sound." Which is cool except with his accent I thought he'd said they were all working with "sand" so I had this image of all these people making experimental sandcastles on the beach
