If a character is currently a very mobile fungus, what health concerns about sex would be reasonable? I'm thinking fungal infections, pregnancy … maybe something about tissue strength and tearing?

Fungus character is a trans man in the shape of a be-vagina-ed human, partner is mostly-human cis man.

(Yes, I am asking for my AU Shen Qingqiu. #SVSSS #BingQiu #FanFicAU #TransShenYuan )

@kalany hm. pregnancy seems least likely here, but this is The World Airplane Built, so maybe not. Maybe sporing when he cums? Spores could be anything from amusing to cough inducing to some sort of offspring.
Think I'd be concerned about yeast infection. ("concerned", like Binghe wouldn't love being sick and having his dick fussed over by Shizun.)

@Marsh We're gonna get spores later, fwiwβ€”for now I'm not sure Shen Qingqiu knows enough about mushrooms to be worried? Or maybe he is, but more like "am I gonna cum in spores?" 🀣

He's probably not *seriously* worried about pregnancy, but he's AFAB so I'm sure it's in the back of his mind. Same way I've been spayed for years and still half-worry πŸ˜…

@Marsh also I feel the need to tell you that they find out that the reason the sun & moon mushrooms are so rare is because they are, in fact, a form of fungus that requires a host plant for part of its life cycle. I need you to picture the expression on Shen Qingqiu's face when he realizes he is a … smut fungus. 😊
@kalany I see: what would *he* be concerned about! well, he could be afraid of being eaten! (I mean, he knows lots of beasts with odd dietary needs I'm sure, and mushrooms are a thing humans eat.) Hm... I don't think I actually know enough about fungus to be helpful. Non-sex related, does he need to be, like buried? Or be fed decomposing matter? I don't know, but I'm sure he doesn't either!
@Marsh oh, yeah, I wasn't clear. Basically he's going to insist on visiting his doctor ahead of becoming sexually active, like a good boy, and I need a list of reasonable questions for him to have πŸ˜‚ (poor Mu Qingfang is gonna be like "I have no idea, I guess just come back if Binghe's dick turns colors or falls off??")
@kalany No useful feedback to give (don’t know much about fungi), but Iβ€˜m excited to see more of this AU! <3

@kalany my brain goes straight to erotic body horror in these cases, sorry

Fellas, is it gay to lovingly colonize your partner's soft tissues, caress his nerve endings with your hyphae, send pleasure straight to his brain stem as your fruiting bodies bud in his orfices?

@warsawmouse not in this fic, but I have an unpublished Dragon Age AU where I did not anticipate that using magic to take over your partner's nervous system miiiight be a little kinky.

Well. I say "not in this fic" but this is the one where I'm trying to decide if I should include one partner consensually puppeting the other one through masturbation.

@kalany First. If the person is allergic to antibiotics, sex could be lethal.

@kalany I mean, I think he *ought* to be concerned about asexual reproduction. Any of his cum could just turn into a genetically identical baby at any time.

(Actually, so could any of his spilled blood, depending on how we conceive of his mushroom body. Probably not shed skin cells or hair, but.)

@Betty I love how everyone is finding the plans I have that he *doesn't* think about because fungal biology is not his field πŸ˜‚ (Not mine either, tbf, but I have Wikipedia and he does not.)

I'm still not sure if I should tag mpreg for when he tries to change his sex and instead starts dispersing spores after sex. 🀣

@kalany I wouldn't expect his knowledge of fungal biology to be even as good as his knowledge of female biology, so who knows. Maybe he thinks they lay eggs.

@Betty oh he is going to get teased mercilessly by his doctor and shidi when he shows up going "uh, so my arms keep going … powdery?" and they're like "congrats, it's spores! Hope you're ready to be a fungus daddy!"

(The results are not actually sentient, but that will not stop the teasing.)

@kalany I guess, depending on how much of a peril you *want* this to be, you could say that it will only develop in a receptive environment, and then you decide what a receptive environment is.
@Betty canonically, nobody has gotten this fungus to grow in several hundred years, so I have some limits on the possibilities, lol. (It *is* an AU, so I could change them, I suppose.) My plan is for them to discover that it has a two-stage reproductive cycle, one of which inhabits high-altitude bamboo. It's not 100% accurate to fungi, but it's close enough that "magic!" mostly handles the discrepancies. πŸ˜…
@kalany fuck him up, s/buttercup/mushroom/
