So... here's my quick description of some Masto-basics...

Toot: Here's what I have to say.

Hashtag: I want others to be able to find what I say

Favorite/Like: I like what you said.

Boost: I think others should hear what you said

Follow: I want to hear more of what you say!

List: I want to make sure I don't miss what you say.

PART TWO - When things get dicey

Mute: I will still follow you and retain privileged access to your followers-only toots and followers-only DMs (if applicable) but I will quiet down my feed for now and won't see your toots.

Block: I don't want to hear from you, at all, and don't want you to be able to view my toots (unless you have another account).

PART THREE - #HowToMastodon Advanced

Block domain: I suspect that the server (instance) that you are on has other malicious actors and I am not taking any chances.

Report: I suspect that your annoying post my be the thin end of the wedge and there is sufficient malice going on that it warrants use of the report utility. This utility will show other replies you have made to other users, possibly revealing a pattern of harassment.

PART FOUR - Mostly I'm interested

Filter: Totally down for most of your toots and boosts passing through my field of view but this one particular thing you toot regularly I don't care if you, your friends, or anyone else talks about it I'm completely not interested in it.

@lsoderman Nice one! I prefer the term like over favorite, since to me favorites is more like “saved” - a list that you want to return to for your favorite content.
@lsoderman where is the follow button?
@lsoderman I understood everything except "List".
