I’m new to Mastodon and I would like to start a conversation. What feeling or mood does a quality black and with photograph trigger in you?

For myself, a quality B&W photo triggers a similar feeling when I get a feeling of deja vu. I get a feeling like I have previously experienced what the photo is portraying.

@cafireman07 There's a liminal, half-dreamlike quality for me. Like something glimpsed out of the corner of the eye so that one doesn't have the full impression (in this case of color). Perhaps more like the quality of moonlight, but as if the moon could brightly light things without bringing the color sense to bear. So the emotional impression is often heightened and mystery invoked.

@cafireman07 Yes, the "classic" idea of a ghost doesn't have a lot of color... there's also the idea of seeing an essence of something, a soul rather than the usual form

Yes, you might say that without color, it exposes an inner spirit not normally visible when all the colors are visible. Kind of like how the ghost hunters use a special film to capture the spirits or ghosts.
