Yep. Nearly a third of mass shooters have a documented history of domestic violence.

And a Trump judge just ruled that people under a restraining order for domestic violence still have a constitutional right to possess a gun. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2022/11/democratic-senate-majority-trump-biden-judges.html https://twitter.com/lebassett/status/1594458556006559745

Saving the Courts Is an Emergency. Democrats Can Finally Break the Glass.

Three revolting rulings show why the party must supercharge judicial confirmations.

@juddlegum This is an indictment of the laws as they currently exist, not of the judge.
@sstrader @juddlegum Malicious application of law is itself an offense. On this analysis domestic abuse itself might be protected. It’s not the historic analysis. And the supreme court’s latest ruling on firearms doesn’t require it.
@juddlegum I feel like literacy is the best argument for gun control currently available. A recent study (linked below) shows us that 54% of American adults read at or below a 6th grade level. Which means more than half of the gun eligible adults in the United States couldn't read the manual that came in the box with their new firearm and cant be expected to know how to use it correctly. So should people have guns? Sure. Should Americans? Oh hell no, they can't read. https://www.snopes.com/news/2022/08/02/us-literacy-rate/
Do More Than Half of Americans Read Below 6th-Grade Level?

@juddlegum Ensuring they can injure or kill from a distance right?
@juddlegum neither facts move them nor empathy. They are monsters.
@juddlegum the founding fathers are turning over in their graves. There is no constitutional right to own a gun just because….it was only for those part of a well regulated militia. So frustrating!!
@juddlegum For a judge, any judge, to say that someone who has committed domestic violence has a constitutional right to carry guns, including military weapons, which is what AK-47, AR-15, and so on are, is just plain NUTS. We must all vote in every election to carry the will of the vast majority of people in this country.
@juddlegum Seems the GOP have a vendetta against women. No medical protection and no violence protection. Feeling a total lack of value.

@juddlegum That 2nd tweet... horrifying.

An abuser's access to guns makes it 5X more likely that a woman will be killed.

What is America anymore?

@juddlegum And in #Oregon where we just passed #Measure114 one of the strictest #gunlaws in the nation, the application for #gun license rose by 20k a week. BC fear based #propaganda works. #NRA #GunControl #MassShooting #ClubQ
@juddlegum Sadly the violence is the point. 😠
@juddlegum WTF? I will never understand this.
@juddlegum wish we cared about the right to live for those they prey on … this game is exhausting
@juddlegum
This might be an unpopular opinion, but as a non-US citizen I think I can say that from the outside, the "right to carry a gun" itself looks like a pretty bad idea.
@juddlegum I wonder if it will turn out we also have a constitutional right to drive drunk or with a revoked license. Sigh.
