This holiday season Twitter fires 4K workers, Amazon fires 10K workers, & Facebook fires 11K workers—all while US Billionaire pandemic wealth increased an absurd $1.7T.😳

A reminder that billionaires don’t create jobs—they exploit workers. Tax billionaires. Unionize workers.

that's why we urgently need a #SystemChange

a system for the people, for nature and our environment, for #community.

I doubt even billionaires can excape #ClimateCrisis by moving to another planet...
The present system gives them power by money. But in the end it won't save them.

@Velocity2222 German Metal Workers will increas Paychecks by 5,2 % by June!
@Velocity2222 This! I saw an interview and I will try to find a link but it was Bezos and his explanation for the firings that he "expected Pandemic to last longer." Well, first Pandemic is still here, and last, makes you a horrible person to bet on the outcome of a horrific situation.
@Velocity2222 These billionaires are self serving. They lack empathy and are not interested in what's best for humanity.
@Velocity2222 ✋, but what about trickle down economics!? 😉😹
@Velocity2222 Umm, I'm not sure what's going on here....Amazon is firing 10K workers??? I pay $120/year for Amazon Prime, yet for the last few months, my 2-day delivery has been creeping up to more like 5+ days. I tried to order some things on Friday (all Prime), but none of them were going to arrive until NEXT Friday, so I had to go out shopping IRL today because I need the items sooner. Yet Amazon is firing workers???? Meanwhile, Bezos's wealth doubled during the pandemic.
@janeselkie @Velocity2222 I avoid Amazon like the plague. Paying a few dollars less is just not worth all the problems Amazon causes in distorting local economies and causing so much distribution waste.

@ottawa_smor @Velocity2222

Stewart, I have slowly grown to agree with you. The convenience factor too-long caused me to simultaneously abhor the things I learned about Amazon, while blindly enjoying having everything I wanted delivered to me fast. But I'm finally too bothered by the worker exploitation, among other things, to continue closing my eyes. Not to mention, one can no longer get trustworthy products there anyway.

@Velocity2222 I find that those who are anti-union either don’t know the history of unions and how they have fought for workers rights and better working conditions (and still do) or want to demonize unions do they can continue to exploit their workers.
@annecavicchi @Velocity2222 billionaires have spent years on propaganda trashing unions, muddying their history in working peoples eyes. They want us to think we got the weekend, lunch breaks, etc because of their generosity and not because unions fought and died for them
@Velocity2222 we need a state committed to building socialism before billionaires are taxed lest we end up with a significantly better funded fascistic state. Im not saying we wait for billionaires to be taxed by a socialist state by any means though

@Velocity2222 I like Mastodon for more than it just being a friendly place.

It also reveal just how dissatisfied the people of the world are, and appears to be a nexus for a worldwide movement to expose the greed of the wealthy, the corporations as well as the atrocities of our respective governing systems.

@Velocity2222

The wealth pandemic-- can the infection of moneyed pathogens be checked?

@Velocity2222 we the consumer create the jobs.
@Velocity2222 they are being prepared for the next crisis. We should too.
@Velocity2222 may 2022 be the year of the union!
@Velocity2222 so what will We The People do about this atrocity???
@Velocity2222 and also usually pay zero or very little taxes.
@Velocity2222 during the previous President Circus Peanut administration, Zuck visited the white house almost weekly.
