Dia daoibh, a chairde! Hello friends!

Thanks so much to @cenobyte (and @Satori, of course!) for setting up a server for for us and our floofy friends. I hope to see lots of pals joining us in the coming days.

You may know me as Snugglor from twitter (same name). I've been lucky enough to share my home with lots of piggies over the years, and I currently have ten piggy pals who brighten my every day 😊

I'm looking forward to meeting you all, old friends and new ☺️

@snugglor @cenobyte Hooray! 🎊 🥳 Welcome to the floofdom! 🥰 Wow, you figured out how to post already and everything, very impressive!! 😯 🏆
There are many who have accounts already here but are not yet brave enough to post. I think my next how to email will help a lot when it comes later in the wheek! Baby steps, especially for the smolest of the floofs 😊❤️

@snugglor

Dia duit! Anthony is ainm dom; is coinín mé.

@anthonyrabbit It's nice to meet you, Anthony!
@anthonyrabbit @snugglor What is this beautiful language! Is it Irish? 🥰
@Satori @anthonyrabbit Yep, it is 😊
@snugglor @anthonyrabbit How wonderful! Strange and unusual fact about BunMum (who is a quarter Irish ☘️ and has the green eyes to prove it! 😉), she adores Celtic music, and loves the Irish accent so much she’s watched YouTube videos to try to learn the accent at least! 💚
@Satori @snugglor @anthonyrabbit Gaelic accent is so wonderful! I’ve had quite a few Irish friends and I cld sit and chat with them forever and a day, just to listen to them speak!

@FatimaS21366999 @Satori @anthonyrabbit The thing about Ireland is that there are so many accents. It's not really an exaggeration to say that you can travel five miles and have a different accent, especially in the cities. It's something I really love, though 😍

I do often wonder if they sound so different to people outside the country or if they all just sound "Irish". Are our ears just more "tuned in" to the differences, if that makes sense 🤔

@snugglor @FatimaS21366999 @Satori @anthonyrabbit Reminds me of a remark by Plume Latraverse, Cdn singer: "L'accent, c'est pas dans la gorge des uns, c'est dans l'oreille des autres." (Accents aren't in the throat of speakers, but in the ears of listeners.)
@Byronrabbit @snugglor @FatimaS21366999 @anthonyrabbit What a perfect quote! Just beautiful, and so very true. ❤️
@snugglor @FatimaS21366999 @anthonyrabbit Oh, that is so lovely to hear. I suspect many of us don't have the sensitivity as outsiders to pick up on those beautiful, nuanced differences!

@Satori @snugglor

Mama is 1/4 Irish (her father’s mother) & 1/4 German (her father’s father), and learned both languages at her father’s urging. But while she can read & write well in both, she is not good at speaking/hearing Irish due to lack of exposure to any speakers here. [She is also fluent in French; can read Italian at a basic level, and used to be able to speak & write in Russian & Mandarin, but has pretty much totally lost the latter 2 as she hasn’t used them at all in over 30 years]

@anthonyrabbit @snugglor Skye: That is incredible and super cool of your Mama! I only speak bunny...
Satori: I sure wish I had more exposure to other languages, I only know a little French. I've always wanted to learn Latin, too. I would love making the connections between Latin and the words we use today!

@Satori @snugglor

I don’t know about Latin, but I is trying very hard to teach Mama to speak Lapine; you would think after 35 years of being a rabbit mama she would be able to a least hold a basic conversation! But apparently she really is as dumb as she looks 🤷

@anthonyrabbit @Satori @snugglor Duolingo for Lapine! Instead of gemstones for proficiency levels, there'd be fruit and veg with banana at the top. And instead of Lingots, hooms would earn those homemade snacks buns are famous for 😀
