GenealCymruSomething for the #Genealogy community and @[email protected] to consider: I'm gonna have to move my account to a new instance, cause apparently a lot of instances are blocking mastodon.social soon. When you move instances, none of your posts get moved, which is an issue since we like our archives so much. Seems like an issue when you're trying to build up a body of work. Followers do get moved (mostly?) so that's good, but you start from 0 in terms of posts.
Liz - WillsmanOneName@GenealCymru I haven’t done it myself, but this advice from https://mastodon.help/ makes it look like you may be able to bring your posts with you. I’ve screenshotted the relevant part. I hope it works for you. Completely agree we need to be able to bring posts when we move instances

@GenealCymru that’s strange…maybe it depends which instance you’re on? I think @_30Genealogist changed instances. Jade - did your original posts come with you to the new instance?
GenealogyJade@Liz @GenealCymru My posts didn't come over, but I moved when I had made very few posts. It might be worth moving now if you've not made many posts. @thedanielsgenealogy has moved to a genealogy specific instance
