Natalie Downe@Marla_MarineBiol finding people to follow can be tricky, you can use https://debirdify.pruvisto.org to help you find where your twitter followers moved to on mastodon
You could also join a more specialist server like ecoevo.social or scicomm.xyz, you could also search mastodon for those servers to find people who are on them (I did that)
Once you find someone you feel your interest overlap with, on the mastodon website you can see the people they follow and you can follow them
