About an hour ago there was an explosion in İstiklal Street, #Istanbul. According to the early information and images there were several casualties and likely a bomb dropped in a bag.

But right now we can’t have more information because government media watchdog banned any news about it and according to my OONI Probe test results from couple mins ago, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube access is blocked in #Turkey.

Based on the tests I made from both my home internet and mobile, it’s clear that once again they’re bandwidth throttle all major social media and messaging services in Turkey.

If they follow the same path, it’ll stay that way for a while, usually when they are ready to make an official statement. But in the meantime, people will start spreading wild conspiracy theories.

@Kanagasubramaniandotnet not like a full ban but they’ve developed a really strong control over both traditional and online media. Of course there’s a lot of independent ones but they have almost total control over mainstream media and online platforms.
