So far I’ve seen people excited to be on Mastodon but genuinely missing #recsys features from other social media networks:

+ algorithmic feed that shows content based on interest rather than chronology
+ Downranking already-impressed posts
+ ability to do exploration and discovery easier

I’m curious if people will implement some of these features and basically wind up where we started again.

@russokrauss @vicki there could be algorithmic feed versions of home, local and federated timelines. I think providing that choice is helpful.

Same goes with quote tweets, an option to enable or disable at a server level should be good. Or why not make it at a user level control? Ppl who don't want to get dunked, QT'ed can disable it.
