Ford torched his brand new presidency for the noble cause of telling future presidents their bad actions wouldn’t have consequences.

@smotus
Trump is Geraldo's personal friend, so I understand the sentiment. I don't agree, though.

I seriously doubt that Trump will pay a price for his crimes, with the possible exception of tax crimes.

It's a dangerous situation, though, as a society that does not enforce laws equitably can devolve into violence as a means to settle scores. That invariably leads to mistakes.

@smotus

Pardon Trump for stealing nuclear secrets and attempting a bloody coup to re-install himself as an illigitimate president? ?

For the good of the “country” Geraldo Rivera? That would benefit one person only.

Nice try - you will get your ticket to the Mar-el-Lago New Year Eve chintz soiree.

@smotus and Nixon at least had the decency to stop doing obvious criming after he left office

@smotus

It’s interesting how this was never broached as an option for GW Bush and Bill Clinton.

@smotus

Does it matter what Geraldo Rivera thinks? I’d say he’s a “has been”, but I’m not sure he was ever of any consequence in the first place.

@smotus It was a bad decision. But there’s a world of difference between Nixon and Trump.
@smotus I just can’t even begin to imagine how that would be good for the nation.
@smotus I love (lol) that they are floating the idea through Geraldo. I hate that they are going to make Biden look like the bad guy for never, ever doing it.
