@DaveMWilburn he vaguely declared it but the actual rules pages are still up. he basically said hate speech is allowed but theyâll demote & demonetize it. except anyone who knows anything knows thatâs not actually going to happen. he doesnât have the staff to make that commitment.

It will be interesting to see how musk will try to get some money out of his birdsite screwup.

The people pushing the âthe market will sort this out by itselfâ ideology are usually rather naĂŻve about everything and donât understand people, so I expect/hope a lot of them arenât going to go along with a site that says âyour punishment for being a Nazi is your comment being pushed lower by the algorithmâ and pull their ads/money. Musk will whine and cry about âwoke corporations uninterested in free speechâ because thatâs what the free speech grifters always do, but the puling and whinging wonât bring the advertisers back.

@GrittyLipids @roccobarbi @dell honestly though, "Amway for racists" is such a perfect analogy for a lot that's going on with people buying Mein Pillow, Trumpy Bear, the crowd-funded border wall, whatever the heck Dinesh D'Souza, Bari Weiss, or Jordan Peterson are doing at any given moment, and all the rest of the far-right grifts out there. They just routinely overestimate how attractive all that bullshit is to anyone that isn't fully invested in their cult.
@DaveMWilburn @roccobarbi @dell At least one of those crowdfund the wall guys went to jail for defrauding the idiots, which really shows whatâs going on here. Plus all you have to do is spend ten minutes paying attention to these people and you hear about grifts and merch. Theyâre all fascists and some of them are actual Nazis, but a lot of them are also trying to make money off of it. Thing is that thatâs a limited pool of suckers with a limited market share and resource pool, so theyâre all fighting with each other for that audience.
Or they whitewash it and âhide their power levelâ so that they can try to infect normies who donât realize all the implications of whatâs being said. Peterson does that all day every day, just to name one of the most successful.
