Hey, my name is Tim.

I'm a recovering tech entrepreneur now working as a full-time professional photographer based in Hertfordshire, UK. I specialise in architecture, but my passion is trees and forests.

I left tech in 2017 and had a breakdown shortly afterwards, which nearly led me to take my own life. Having a fantastic therapist and spending lots of time in nature helped fix me up, and helped me rediscover my love for photography.

A few recent woodland images are below.

@timsmalley Lovely photos.
@colinpatton thanks Colin!
@timsmalley So glad to hear photography is helping you and photos are great.
My wife and I were semi serious amateur wildlife photographers in the 90s and we are currently digitising all our old safari holiday slides and negatives and making them into photobooks it's very therapeutic.
@colinpatton that sounds amazing, Colin. What kinds of animals did you use to shoot? Thanks for your kind words.
@timsmalley We were very very lucky and we managed to go on several safaris and have seen lots of the magnificent wildlife including lions, leopards, ostrich and many other large and small birds, elephants (both African & Indian), tigers, giraffes hippos, crocodiles, wildebeests, cheetahs all sorts of antelope and even Lemurs and chameleons in Madagascar.
All of them wonderful memories.
@colinpatton wow that's amazing and you're very lucky to be able to have seen these amazing animals in the wild. My son loves big animals (he took particular interest in the hippos, giraffes and tigers last time), but he's not old enough to go on safari just yet so we are limited to taking him to the zoo and local safari parks til he's a bit older. He's not in school yet, but we have been fostering his love for nature since he was a couple of months old.
@timsmalley
Never posted any of our photos before but thought I'd send you this one as you said your son loves big animals.
This was our 1st photo on our 1st safari and we had just arrived in Kenya after flying over night & thought we were going straight to our lodge but the driver stopped and said look over there. Our cameras were in the back behind a grill and we had to reach through grab a body, lens & film and this was the result - its still one of our favourites because of the memories.

@colinpatton wow, that's a beauty... you must have some incredible photos in your archives.

My son loves it, thanks for sharing :)

@timsmalley Glad your son liked it - I hoped he would.
We've actually had it made into a large canvass and it hangs in our lounge.
