Things I hope stay behind on Twitter:
Clout chasing, pandering, virtue signaling, and plagiarizing ideas — srsly give credit where it’s due it’s not that hard. 😡

@austinchiangmd this! We are are actually running a workshop in a couple of weeks about parasitic aggregation because this was rampant on the birdsite. Now have to completely redesign the session. 😅

@Franklindog @austinchiangmd putting us on the spot 😅 I first encountered it as comments, posts that made me feel uneasy although they seem to say the morally right things. Like the people filming themselves giving food or money to a homeless person (1/2)

@Franklindog @austinchiangmd and literally doing it just to get social recognition and kudos. It's basically the opposite of putting someone down to show off in front of others. It's literally signalling "virtue" moral superiority to the outside world with the sole purpose of getting recognition for "being good" (the end)

@austinchiangmd @drntasler @Franklindog “Virtue signaling” has been thrown around in the pandemic to attack people trying to establish social (public health) norms. I was accused of virtue signaling for wearing a mask. The use of the term is a bit confusing to me

Oh wow! I was not aware of this (maybe because I had my bird-site heavily filtered as I could not cope with all the anti-vax, anti-mask folk).

I only know the term in relation to my previous comments.
It is confusing, probably been high-jacket by right leaning folk to 'beat the woke crowd' with their own words.
