This year, the speed limit in #Bordeaux dropped from 50 km/h to 30 (30 to 20 mph). Joins #Montpellier #Grenoble, #Nice, #Lille, #Nantes, 200 other cities in #France with 30 km/h limits.

This has already led to an astonishing 70% decrease in crash fatalities.

@straphanger I lived 10 years in Grenoble. From this time I can tell that what was already a decent place has been mesmerised by the current mayor, Piolle. We already had a very decent tramway-network given the size of the city. Most importantly: there were park & rides with attractive pricing on every line end.

With Piolle this has been scaled dramatically, the city core has now big car-free parts, there’s no commercial advertising on public space, …
